Every house needs a name. For a while, ours was The Chantry named after the previous owners. This one is The Shannon. The Shannon is a newly renovated beach house in Crystal Beach owned by my friends Tim & Carolee. You won't believe the transformation! I hardly did. As a creative, you'd think I would be able to look at something and see the potential but it takes a visionary to do that.
The property purchased was basically a shell. The previous owners had begun to demo the inside and had started to replace a few windows. Check this out:
Any one else overwhelmed with a blank slate? Where do you even start? The space was designed by the new owners and they hired Southport Builders, here in Niagara, to complete the construction. Windows were moved and then added, a staircase was rebuilt, the roofline was changed, the front door was moved over--really, every inch of this space needed a little love. It is a charming 3 bedroom space that sleeps 8--complete with two full washrooms, a laundry closet and open concept kitchen and living space. There's really no reason to leave, other than to bike over to the beach. Decorated by Carolee, many of the items used to furnish the space were thrifted and she found some of the sweetest little details to cosy up the space. It will make a perfect little getaway for the family! Check out the transformation:
